Featured Friday: Our Polish General!

Those who follow Sandy's blog will remember this project from a few weeks ago....one of our Majors in the Army in Afghanistan asked a special favor. She'd picked up a birthday card from an OWH contact, and the Polish General she serves under saw it - and asked about getting some special cards. In Polish culture, celebrating birthdays isn't a big deal...but NO one misses a "Name Day." Every Polish name has a day - I think it's a saint's day(?), and they celebrate those days bigtime! The General wished to have cards to give to his Polish troops, and the Major asked for our help. (Original request is here along with the digis for them.)

You may wonder why it wasn't posted here - they didn't need a lot. And when we ask special favors here, we know you all respond in droves! So it was kept to a smaller venue on Sandy's blog - and those followers responded wonderfully....after an initial packet with some cards made by Sandy, we've sent a package with 35 more Name Day cards, and a whole bunch more birthday cards. Woohoo! The list of names of cardmakers was on a stickynote here somewhere....and now that this post is due to publish, that stickynote is missing! My apologies, I'd love to list your names. Know that the General will be thrilled! This was his response to the first packet:

Thanks again for the support! I mailed you a handwritten thank you
yesterday but I wanted to tell you that I received the cards just in
time for Andrzej's name day. The cards were absolutely perfect! Your
research paid off...the General smiled with the one card that said
something like "100 years" which I guess is a common greeting used to
address each other on their day. Thanks again for everything!
Sincerely, L.A.
Without further ado, here are some of the beauuuuuutiful Polish Name Day cards. Thank you everyone!

Good work ladies! Nice cards! Sounds like the General was quite pleased and moved by the gesture. What a wonderful way to spread goodwill towards men epecially during the Christmas season. Sharla
