Tutorial - Brick Wall Technique

Thanks to Julie for helping me with today's tutorial.

Last week's technique was mosaic. This week's is a similar look (without the heat embossing), and another way to add variety to your favorite stamps.




Start with your stamped image.

Then you can either draw the lines on the back and use scissors, or 'eyeball' it with a paper cutter. The measurements will vary with the size of your image, so play with it. My horizontal lines are just under one inch apart, and my vertical lines are at 1/2" or 1" (staggered to make the brick pattern as shown).

The trickiest part of this really is keeping the pieces in order without putting together a jigsaw puzzle several times. You might want to number the squares on the reverse side to save yourself some time.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but I sponged the edges of each of my "bricks" with white craft ink.

Tip - When you mount your bricks on their background, start with a larger background square than you will need and trim it after. This will take the stress out of the spacing.
