Featured Cardmaker: Vanessa Z, Corvallis OR

This week meet Vanessa  -  she's a Stampin' Up! demo, and her blog is Vanessa's Card Studio!

How long have you been stamping?
I've been a scrapbooker for years, but I didn't touch a stamp set until 7 years ago.

Do you have a craft room or specific area where you stamp?
Lol.. I wish I had a craft room! I stamp and scrapbook on the kitchen table. I even have a section of cabinets in my kitchen designated for my crafting supplies. I guess you could stay I'd rather stamp than cook. :P

What are your favorite stamp products?
I'm a Stampin' Up demonstrator, so I love Stampin' Up products. I do, however, occasionally use other brands. In addition to the stamped images, I love adding texture and I think perhaps the easiest way to do that is to add some sort of fiber. I rarely make a card that doesn't include ribbon.

Do you have a favorite technique?
I've recently become passionate about watercolor. It's funny because for years I avoided buying stamps that would have to be colored. I find watercoloring soothing and it's a great way to escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Are there colors you love to include on your cards?
I love earthy colors like green and brown. I rarely make a card that doesn't include at least one of those colors.

How did you hear about Operation Write Home?
Before moving to Oregon last year, I lived in Jacksonville, Florida, which has a large military population. I remember hearing about an organization that sent cards to troops, so I did a Google search and discovered Operation Write Home. I think it's an awesome concept and I'm happy to play a small part.

What motivates you to make cards for our heroes?
I am so appreciative for the sacrifices made by troops and their families. Just think, people leave their loved ones behind and go risk their lives for me! Organizing card workshops through my chuch allows me to show how thankful I am for that sacrifice, plus it allows others to give back as well.
