You don't have to have a sewing machine or know how to sew to stitch on a card. I kept seeing cute cards with stitching on them and finally decided to try doing it by hand. It was easier than I thought!
- patterned paper
- paper piercer
- embroidery needle
- embroidery thread
- ruler or piercing template
- ink & stamps
Step 2 - With a pencil and ruler, lightly mark the paper every 1/8th of an inch. You could also use a paper piercing template for this step.
Step 3 - With your paper piercer, gently poke a hole on each pencil mark.
Step 4 - Thread your needle and start stitching, making sure to hide your loose end of thread on the back of your cardstock piece. (In the photo, the bottom piece of patterned paper is folded around to the back of the card.)
Here's another card where I used a punched flower and "free handed" some lightly penciled dots to outline the stem and leaves.
Add a button and sentiment, plus the stitching and here's a card sure to make someone smile.
